Staff Selection Commission commonly referred to as SSC every year organizes Combined Graduate Level (CGL) exam for the recruitment of eligible candidates to fill up about 30 posts under different departments. The eligibility criteria are graduation. The candidates who are appearing in final year are also eligible to take part in this exam provided they get their graduation degree before 1 August 2016. The Exam Process will consist of a 3 Tier process which is as follows:-
SSC CGL Exam Tier I Pattern:
It will be an Computer based written Examination containing overall 100 questions in 75 minutes.These questions will be distributed equally between
SSC CGL Exam Tier II Pattern
It will also be Computer based written Examination. It will contain 4 Papers out of which two are mandatory and two are optional.
SSC CGL Exam Tier III Pattern
It includes Pen and Paper Based Descriptive Test.
SSC CGL Next Phase After Exam
Document verification and some optional tests like Computer Proficiency Test/ Skill Test for a few selected postsThis is a hierarchical process. It means if you clear the tier 1 round, you will have to appear for Tier 2. For majority of the posts, based on your TiEr that is the major exam & Tier 3 is skill test/interview and Tier 2 marks you will be declared selected. For other posts you have to undergo that skill test and computer proficiency test.

SSC Tier 3 Preparation Tips
This is the final Tier of the SSC CGL Exam. Only those competitors who qualify in all the papers of Tier 1 and Tier 2 as well clear the overall cutoff will be eligible for the Tier 3 exam and as per the requirement go through the following processes:
Data Entry Skill Test:
This is an optional test and it will check your Data Entry Speed where the requirement is about 2000 key depressions in time duration of 15 minutes and will only be of qualifying nature.
Computer Proficiency Test:
This is also an optional test and will comprise of three modules- Word Processing, Spreadsheet and Generation of Slides.
Document Verification:
This is the final step of the SSC CGL exam where you have to go for document verification. Keep in mind that you carry all the necessary documents else you may not be considered for final selection.

Now SSC will conduct both Tier I and Tier II exam in online mode.
Reduce the time limit for examination of Tier -I from 75 minutes to 60 minutes.
SSC CGL Tier II will remain same.
Introduce a descriptive paper of 100 marks within 60 minutes in pen and paper mode.
No Sectional Cut off.

SSC CGL Tier I Exam Pattern
SSC CGL Tier I is mandatory for all the posts and its marks are added for further process as well. If you do not clear cut-off of Tier I Exam then you will not be eligible for Tier II. Below table shows the section wise breakup of questions and marks asked in SSC CGL Tier I exam.
